Insurgents of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), a Boko Haram splinter, have attacked Malumfatori military base, killing two Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) officers and some soldiers.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the terrorists on 20 guntrucks and motorcycles stormed the base on Wednesday from Kangarwa- Madayi- Shuwaram-and Dogon Chikun in Borno State.
Details of this latest terrorists attack are still sketchy.
Since 2009, Boko Haram and its factions have launched an uprising in northeast Nigeria.
Its attacks have spread to neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon, prompting a military response. ISWAP has pledged allegiance to ISIL (ISIS).
About 350,000 people have been killed and three million civilians displaced in more than a decade of fighting in Nigeria, according to the United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Nigeria.
