Boko Haram launched an early morning attack on Damboa, Borno State’s largest local government area today, Friday.
Troops are currently engaging them.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the terrorists have attacked Damboa repeatedly since 2014 when they last occupied the town.
Boko Haram has been engaged in campaigns of violence. Their attacks consist of suicide bombings as well as conventional armed assaults on both civilian and military targets. The jihadists rely on stealth, blending into local communities or hiding in the vast countryside.
On 23 February, Boko Haram killed 10 people in Maiduguri using rocket-propelled grenades.
On 25 April, the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) killed 33 soldiers in Borno.
