President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This newspaper reports that the meeting is ongoing as of the time of filing this report. The visit is coming ahead of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scheduled for this month.
It was gathered that the visit is aimed at seeking the intervention of the president in the political conflict between Obaseki and the National Chairman of the APC Adams Oshiomhole.
Some governors, who are members of the APC have thrown their weight behind Obaseki. The governors stormed the National Secretariat of the party on Monday to hold a fence-mending meeting with the National Chairman.
The meeting is a follow-up to a similar meeting held with the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos on Sunday night.
