Justice Ayokunle Faji of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi has denied bail to a former Vice Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Mr. Kehinde Ashekun.
Ashekun is in court for the alleged exportation of 1,000 kilogrammes of cocaine.
On May 7, 2021, Ashekun was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos, for attempting to smuggle 1,000 kilogrammes of cocaine hidden in footwear, to London, United Kingdom.
Ashekun had been on the wanted list of the NDLEA after some drug traffickers arrested were linked to him.
On Friday, the court dismissed Ashekun’s bail application due to lack of merit.
