President Muhammadu Buhari has cast his vote in his hometown of Daura in Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria.

After casting his vote, the president fielded questions from newsmen.
On the fears of possible violence during the general elections, President Buhari said he is leaving it to the security agencies to tackle.
This newspaper reports that the 2023 election is the first in the country’s history which will not feature an incumbent or military ruler since 1999 when the nation returned to democratic rule.
Buhari is in his second term in office and cannot seek a third term. Nigerian law only allows a maximum of two terms of four years each for presidents, vice presidents, governors, and deputy governors.
