BREAKING: Buhari will not be addressing Nigerians today – Presidency

The Presidency has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari will not be addressing Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast today. A media aide to the President, Femi Adesina, made this known in a short post via his verified Twitter handle on Monday.

Recall that the national coordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, had said that the president will be addressing the country on Monday evening.

During an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels TV, Aliyu said the president’s address will majorly focus on whether or not the country will proceed with the second phase of easing the lockdown.

However, Adesina said that no presidential broadcast was planned for today, adding that any update on the pandemic will be relayed to Nigerians during the daily media briefing of the taskforce.

He tweeted: “No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings where they bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.”
