BREAKING: Canada Recognises Tinubu as Delegates Arrive Nigeria for Swearing-in

Ahead of the May 29 swearing-in of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th president of Nigeria, Canada’s delegates have arrived the country to witness the ceremony.

The Canadian team is led by the minister for Housing, Diversity and Inclusion, Hussein Ahmed.

Politics Nigeria reports that this was disclosed in a post by the Canadian high commission via its official Twitter handle, @CanadaInNigeria saying, “ Canada in Nigeria is delighted to welcome The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, to Nigeria, for the presidential inauguration ceremony of President-Elect, H.E Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.”

Also in a statement shared, the commission noted that the minister would meet with representatives of civil society and youths, adding that “Canada and Nigeria share strong bilateral ties, and Canada looks forward to continue collaborating with Nigeria on shared priorities, including trade opportunities and regional security, through the leadership of the new president.

The statement read in part:

While in Nigeria, Minister Hussein will meet with representatives of civil society organisations, youth and international partners regarding Nigeria’s efforts in promoting inclusion and respect for diversity.”
