Tensions reached a boiling point at the Bayelsa Collation Centre in Yenogoa as agents of the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) clash over disputed election results from certain local government areas in the state.
When the collation resumed on Monday, the collation officer for the Brass local government area announced the results that showed that the APC won in Brass with 18,431 votes compared to the 12,602 of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, after the announcement of the results, party agents, including those of APC and PDP, disagreed on the reported violence in the local government.
The commotion almost led to a fisticuff until security officials intervened.
The situation prompted the intervention of the police, who were called in to maintain order at the collation centre.
