BREAKING: Court convicts Doyin Okupe

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday convicted Doyin Okupe, the Director-General (DG) of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), for money laundering.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Okupe in 2019 on a 59-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering and diversion of N702 million.

The former presidential aide was arraigned before Ijeoma Ojukwu, the presiding judge, alongside two companies – Value Trust Investment Ltd and Abrahams Telecoms Ltd.

Okupe was said to have received cash from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) while Sambo Dasuki was in office.

Justice Ojuwku in a judgment held that the action of Okupe, who is the first defendant in the suit filed by the EFCC violated the Money Laundering Act.

Shortly after his conviction, his lawyer, Francis Oronsaye, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy on the grounds that the defendant was a first-time offender, a family man who is also advanced in age and battling health challenges.

  1. In as much as I don’t side all the big thief in Nigeria as him, the big questions still need to be answered.
    Where is Dansuki and other couprist and other thief’s in the government.
    Is vert sad when you single out one person and left others.
    I bet you if Doyin Okupe is APC member, he will not be convicted.
    Where are all the thief’s in APC who still government or those who ran from other parties to hide under APC government?
    Let us continue to deceive ourselves in Nigeria but I know one thing for sure one is going to one then the rest will be stories.

I still don’t understand this country, laundering #705 ml cash given to him by Sambo Dashiki, this man is not rich, was reported by some LP member that his car was Sienna before he joined LP then what happened to the money, also what happen to Dasuki that shared the money to each and everyone involved. More answers is needed by Efcc. All this thieves must be brought to book.
