BREAKING: Appeal Court Declares Zamfara Governorship Election Inconclusive [DETAILS]

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has declared the Zamfara State Governorship Election inconclusive, upturning the initial victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Governor Dauda Lawal.

The court also ordered a rerun in three Local Government Areas (LGAs) – Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukyun – citing irregularities.

The ruling came in response to an appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which had challenged the results of the election.

In its judgment, the Court of Appeal upheld the APC’s claims and found that the Zamfara State Election Petitions Tribunal had failed to consider the evidence presented by the party. The court also dismissed the results provided by the APC and INEC for Maradun LGA and ordered a rerun in the affected areas.

In the lead judgement that was read by Justice Sybil Nwaka, the court said it was wrong for INEC to rely on information it obtained from its IReV portal to collate the final result of the governorship election.

This development follows an appeal lodged before the court by the immediate past governor of the state, Bello Matawalle, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election.
