BREAKING: CSO to Issue FoI to Compel Tinubu to Publish Details of N8,000 Monthly to Nigerians

Popular civil society organisation, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has reacted to the news that President Bola Tinubu will pay vulnerable Nigerians N8,000 monthly.

The money is meant to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on poor Nigerians who are seriously hit by the policy.

The organisation took to its official Twitter page to announce that it will be issuing and Freedom of Information (FOI) request to compel the government to publish details of the promise monthly.

SERAP’s statement reads:

“We’re issuing an FoI request to compel the Tinubu administration to publish details of proposed transfer of N8,000 monthly to 12 million poor households for six months, such as the list of intended beneficiaries, how they will be selected, and the methods of payments.”

SERAP is known for promoting transparency and accountability in the use of Nigeria’s natural resources.
