The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced a meeting in Abuja.
The meeting is aimed at resolving the ongoing leadership crisis threatening to divide the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum is presiding over the meeting, which has brought together key stakeholders, including the Embattled National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, Senator Ben Obi, and BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara.
The meeting is expected to address the contentious issue of the National Secretary position, currently contested between Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye. The matter, now before the Supreme Court, has created a rift within the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC), splitting the leadership into two factions.
The Acting National Chairman Damagum is reportedly aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike. On the other hand, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, is aligned with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.
