In a horrifying incident that took place on the night of Good Friday, suspected armed herdsmen attacked the LGEA Primary School Mgban, located in Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area (LGA) in Benue state.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the school, which had become home to several Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), was reportedly targeted at around 10 pm.
While the details of the attack are still emerging, the death toll is estimated to be at least 43, with fears that the number may rise. Shockingly, pregnant women and children are reportedly among the casualities.
Scores of people have also been reported to have sustained severe injuries, with many others still unaccounted for.
This gruesome incident comes just a few days after a similar attack in Umogidi village, Enetekpa Adoka district of Otukpo LGA, which claimed the lives of 52 people.
