Senator Dino Melaye, a former representative of Kogi West senatorial district, has reacted following his suspension by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Melaye, a staunch ally of PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was suspended by the party’s Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 in Kogi state on Friday, September 13, over alleged anti-party activities.
However, Melaye has fired back at the party’s acting national chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, accusing him of being the source of the PDP’s internal crisis.
In a video shared on his social media page, Melaye described Damagum as a man whose “belly is his God,” implying that the chairman’s decisions are driven by personal interests rather than the party’s well-being.
Melaye’s reaction comes after Damagum claimed that the suspended former senator was part of the opposition party’s internal problem.
Damagum had stated that Melaye contested for the Kogi state governorship election in 2023 but failed to vote for himself.
However, Melaye has dismissed Damagum’s claims. He described himself as “air” and noted that “they don’t suspend air.”
