Recall that President Bola Tinubu had suspended Emefiele on Friday, a decision that generated reactions across the country.
As part of the suspension, Emefiele was instructed to immediately hand over the responsibilities of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who would serve as the interim Central Bank Governor while investigations and reforms are carried out.
