Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has announced the recovery of a COVID-19 patient on Wednesday.
The state, which recorded nine new cases on Tuesday, has a total of 88 confirmed cases. Recall that Mr Obaseki had earlier extended the 8am-6pm curfew in the state by another fourteen days to curb the spread of the virus in the state.
Meanwhile, Mr Obaseki announced that another patient has been discharged from the state’s isolation centre after testing negative twice.
“I’m glad to announce that another #COVID19 patient has been discharged after testing negative twice,” he wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
According to the governor, this brings the number of persons managed and discharged in the facilities to 14.
“Our efforts remain centred on measures to contain the pandemic and protect Edo people,” he added.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that 4787 cases have been confirmed, 959 cases have been discharged and 158 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
While Lagos State remains the epicentre for the disease in the country, cases in Kano and Borno States have continued to increase significantly.
