In a news that will surprise the world, Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla Inc., has finally appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO) for Twitter.
This comes just over six months after his controversial takeover of the social media company.
In a tweet on Friday, May 12, the billionaire owner of Twitter says Linda Yaccarino, the former head of advertising at NBCUniversal, would oversee business operations at the site.
Musk wrote: “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
However, Musk will remain involved as executive chairman and chief technology officer.
Politics Nigeria reports that Mr Musk – who bought the social media platform last year for $44bn – had been under pressure to find someone else to lead the company and refocus his attention on his other businesses, which include electric carmaker Tesla and rocket firm SpaceX.
Her appointment comes after she interviewed Musk at a marketing event in April and boasted about her ‘work ethic’ – a meeting which some have speculated may have played an important role in her appointment.
