The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele has replied the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu for calling for his resignation over a purchase of the APC Presidential Nomination Form.
Akeredolu on Saturday called for Emefiele’s resignation stating that his decision to contest will spell doom for the party.
The fiery Ondo governor also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Emefiele if he fails to resign before contesting. Reacting to the statement, Emefiele wrote on Social Media;
“I am humbled by the growing interest of those asking that I run for the Office of President in the 2023 general elections: I have not come to that decision. I note and salute the sacrifices of those farmers and patriots going as far as raising personal funds and offering me Presidential Nomination Forms: I thank them most profusely.”
“However, Should I answer their calls and decide to seek presidential nomination, I will use my own hard earned savings from over 35 years of banking leadership to buy my own Nomination Forms, without proxies in an open and transparent manner in full compliance with the laws and Constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The CBN Governor added that his next move is to seek God’s face first for answer before deciding to accept the nomination forms and contest.
“And should I not run for elected office, I will continue to serve and sacrifice for the good people of Nigeria under the able leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. This is a serious decision that requires God’s Divine intervention: in the next few days The Almighty will so direct.”
Double speak Cheap political talk. Accept the path of decency if you wish the choice office and stop the too glaring DECEIT.
“If you have to and your hard earned money”. We have heard such ignoble stance and comment before, from ROGUE heads like you in government taking advantage of the apparatus of office to the disadvantage of other contenders.
YOU SHOULD RESIGN NOW IF YOU STILL HAVE ANY DINT OF HONOUR LEFT IN YOUR GRAIN.
Akeredolu is right, absolutely.
