Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Kyari, who honoured an invitation to the Commission’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Wednesday afternoon, was taken into custody and questioned over the alleged diversion of funds meant for Nigeria’s refinery maintenance.
The investigation allegedly focused on financial and technical transactions linked to the $7.2 billion refinery turnaround maintenance programme.
His questioning came weeks after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the freezing of four bank accounts allegedly linked to him.
He was released late Wednesday night, according to a close source to the investigation.
Hmm I sincerely appreciate it
