BREAKING: FG admits purchasing N1.4 billion vehicles for Niger Republic

The Muhammadu Buhari administration on Wednesday confirmed that it has purchased vehicles worth N1.4 billion to help neighbouring Niger Republic tackle insecurity.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, gave the confirmation, explaining that providing intervention to the country is not new.

According to her, President Buhari has the right to make his own assessment of situations and act on his prerogative.

She added that the financial support was based on a request by the Nigerien Government.

The minister, who was speaking after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President, responded to questions regarding documents released on social media which showed that the president approved the release of the funds on February 22, 2022, for the Niger Republic.

Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon and Chad, have been battling insurgency since attacks by Boko Haram began in 2009 in northeastern Nigeria.
