Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, on Tuesday disclosed that some of the terrorists who attacked a Catholic church in Owo town in Ondo State, two months ago, have been arrested.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that on June 5, terrorists attacked St. Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa Street, Owo, during church service, and killed 40 worshippers.
The incident left many people shocked as such attack was rare in Nigeria’s South-West region.
Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information fingered ISWAP as being responsible for the attack, although the Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, disagreed with him.
Speaking this morning in Abuja, during a parley with executives and editors of media organisations in Nigeria, Gen. Irabor said the attackers were arrested during joint operations involving the Armed Forces, the Department of Security Services (DSS) and the police.
Apart from the 40 people killed during the Owo church attack, several others were injured.
