Finidi George, the head coach of the Super Eagles, has reportedly stepped down from his position.
This was made known by sources in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), marking the end of the former Enyimba coach’s tenure with the Nigerian national football team.
George, a former Nigerian international and renowned winger, took on the role with high expectations but failed to win his first two matches.
George is a celebrated figure in Nigerian football, having had a distinguished playing career that included stints at Ajax, Real Betis, and Ipswich Town.
His appointment as the head coach of the Super Eagles was seen as a move to bring his experience and tactical knowledge to the national team.
The NFF will now begin the search for a new head coach to lead the Super Eagles after initially demoting George and promising to bring in a technical adviser.
