BREAKING: Flights Grounded as Scarcity of Aviation Fuel hits, Passengers Stranded

A lot of Passengers are currently stranded at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport, Abuja over scarcity of Aviation Fuel.

Passengers at the airport on Sunday were stranded as airline operators battled to secure Jet A1 to power their aircrafts.

Aviation fuel normally accounts for over 30 per cent of the operation cost of an airline. The possible cause of the scarcity can be traced to the recent increase  in price from N190 per litre to almost N700 per litre.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that some marketers were reportedly hoarding the substance(artificial scarcity) hence the hike.

Several flights including on Air Peace and Dana Air were delayed due to the development.

It can be recalled that airline operators issued a warning of flight delays last week due to the fuel price hike.

Airpeace CEO Allen Onyema revealed that operators would have shut down operations if not for the political season and to support the current administration.
