BREAKING: Former Nigerian governor dies at 81 [PHOTOS]

A former military governor of Plateau State and member of the General Murtala Mohammed’s Supreme Military Council, Commodore Dan Suleiman, is dead.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the deceased is also one of the founding members of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).

Suleiman passed away on Wednesday. He was 81.

Late Suleiman served as federal commissioner for Special Duties in the General Yakubu Gowon government and was regarded as being instrumental in the founding of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The Secretary of NADECO, Ayo Opadokun announced Suleiman’s death in a statement sent to this newspaper.

Opadokun stated that he was informed of Suleiman’s death by the President of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Bitrus Porgu.

Opadokun, in the statement, described the late Suleiman as “consistently courageous, nationalistic, genuinely patriotic, whose life and times was rich for good purposes and services to God and humanity.”

The deceased is a former Nigerian Ambassador to Russia and an ex-member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
