A fresh attack in the southeastern part of the country has led to the death of several people.
The latest incident took place in Awka, the capital of Anambra state. This happened just days after another violent incident took place in a nearby community.
The attack occurred on Thursday morning around 9:15 a.m.
Witnesses reported that the gunmen targeted two locations. The first location was near the main gate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where they shot several people. The second attack took place at a spot called Witness Garden, along the Ifite-Amansea Road in Awka.
A student of the university, who asked not to be named, said at least nine people were killed in the attack.
“I saw about six corpses along the road. And I know they also killed some other people at the (Witness) Garden,” he said.
This incident comes only four days after gunmen killed about 10 people in Nibo Community, also in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
