BREAKING: Gov Hope Uzodimma wins in all LGAs announced by INEC in Imo election

Governor Hope Uzodimma, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the ongoing Imo State governorship election, has emerged triumphant in all 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced results at the collation centre in Owerri, the capital of Imo state.

During the final collation of the LGAs results on Sunday morning, Professor Abayomi Fasina, the Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oye, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state, declared a one-hour break to compute the final result and officially announce the winner.

According to INEC data, the total number of registered voters for the poll was 2,419,922, with 2,318,919 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected

However, the collation process was not without controversy. The state agent of the Labour Party, Callistus Ihejiagwa, was beaten and ejected from the collation centre after objecting to the results announced by the LGA returning officers.

Additionally, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) state agent, Kissinger Ikeokwu, left the collation centre in response to the unfolding events.

The PDP candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, had previously called for the total cancellation of the election on Saturday night.
