BREAKING: Governor Aiyedatiwa Defies Court Order, Appoints Transition Committees to Ondo LCDAs

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has appointed transition committees to the 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ondo State.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the development is in disregard to a subsisting court judgment that nullified the creation of the LCDAs.

The governor released the list of appointed transition committees for the LCDAs and the existing 18 Local Government Areas in the state on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the governor’s action, describing it as “gross lawlessness” and “flagrant disrespect” for the court of law.

In a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, the PDP said: “It is the height of lawlessness and impunity for Aiyedatiwa to appoint Committees for LCDAs that are non-existent in the eyes of the law. We advise the Governor to respect the laws of the land and stop embarrassing the people of the state with his actions that make us a laughing stock in the comity of civilized people.”

Recall that Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye of Akure High Court had nullified the 33 LCDAs created by the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration, describing them as “inchoate and unlawfully created.”
