Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has directed the Auditor General to conduct a comprehensive audit of the accounts of the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) for the past three years.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the governor gave the order while inaugurating caretaker committee chairmen for the LGAs.
The development comes amidst the ongoing political crisis in the state, which has seen the appointment of caretaker committee chairmen for LGAs in the state.
The audit, according to the governor, is intended to serve as a check on the incoming officials and ensure that they prioritize the interests of their people.
He cautioned the caretaker chairmen against seeing themselves as “superheroes” and instead urged them to demonstrate that the government made the right choice in appointing them.
