Guinness World Records (GWR) has officially confirmed Hilda Effiong Bassey popularly known as Hilda Baci as a new record holder.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in an announcement on their official Twitter account, the renowned organisation expressed their excitement after carefully scrutinising all the footage. Hilda Baci has now claimed the title for the longest cooking marathon (individual).
The body added that for those eager to discover the exact time awarded to Hilda, a captivating video has been shared.
Hilda made headlines in March 2023 when she boldly announced her intention to attempt the record for the longest cooking marathon. This endeavor aimed to surpass the previous record set by Lata Tondon in 2019, who cooked continuously for an impressive 87 hours and 45 minutes.
On May 11, 2023, Hilda commenced her record-breaking pursuit. After several days of non-stop cooking, Hilda broke the existing record on May 15.
At 7:45 am on Monday, May 15, 2023, Hilda surpassed the previous record holder by 87 hours and 50 minutes.
Initially aiming to cook for a staggering 96 hours, Hilda later extended her goal to 100 hours, although GWR verified the duration of her cooking marathon to be 93 hours 11 minutes.
A day later, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, a spokesperson from Guinness World Records released an official statement on their website, acknowledging the record attempt and expressing their anticipation for the submission of evidence to their Records Management Team. The statement added that once the review process is complete, the record will be officially confirmed.
In a recent statement, Guinness World Records has now officially confirmed Hilda’s achievement, recognising her as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon.
