Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sakpefu community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The attack took place on Sunday night when the assailants invaded the community, firing sporadically to scare residents.
According to a source who spoke to newsmen on Monday, the victims were identified as Hajiya Fatima, the chairman’s wife, and his daughter, Amina.
The gunmen reportedly operated for several minutes before whisking them away to an unknown location.
“The bandits abducted his wife, Hajiya Fatima, and his daughter, Amina, and took them to an undisclosed destination,” the source said.
Patigi and other parts of Kwara North have witnessed recurring cases of abductions in recent months, prompting calls by residents for government and security agencies to strengthen protection in the area.
The incidents have heightened concerns over worsening insecurity in Kwara, particularly in rural areas where communities complain of slow or absent security response during violent attacks.
