Some gunmen in Calabar, Cross River state capital, have abducted Ekanem Ephraim, a doctor who works with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) until his kidnap.
Speaking with journalists on Friday, July 14, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) chairman in Cross River, Felix Archibong, called for the immediate and unconditional release of Ephraim, who was abducted on Thursday, July 13.
As disclosed by Archibong, kidnappers disguised themselves as patients, and as Ephraim was attending to them, they brought out weapons and whisked her away at about 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The NMA’s boss in Calabar said:
“We are sure that they are kidnappers because they have reached out to the family, demanding ransom.
