Several people have been injured and properties destroyed after an ethnic clash occurred between Hausa and Yoruba community in Fagba, Iju-Ishaga, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State.
It was learned that the clash was the aftermath of the looting of some shops and the burning of some stores in the area by hoodlums since Wednesday morning. The clash has, however, sent residents into panic mode.
Confirming the incident to reporters on Friday morning, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said a squad of anti-riot policemen has been sent to the area to restore calm and orderliness.
He appealed to community leaders to intervene for calm, urging all residents to remain in their houses and observe the curfew.
“There is a curfew in town everybody should remain in their houses. Police overstretched, it’s a collective struggle,” PPRO said.
