BREAKING: Heavy Protest in Nasarawa Assembly Over Factional Speakership [PHOTOS/VIDEO]

A massive protest has erupted at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the protest is spearheaded by a group known as “The Nasarawa Coalition for Justice.”

The demonstrators are opposing the factional speakership of the 7th Nasarawa State House of Assembly and demanding an end to any external influence over the selection of the assembly’s leader.

Clad in sombre black attire, the predominantly female protesters congregated outside the assembly complex in Lafia.

Their rallying cry centres on upholding due process and preserving the integrity of the legislative body.

This newspaper recently highlighted the leadership crisis gripping the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, which has now escalated into a standoff, with two individuals vying for the coveted position of speaker.

The immediate past speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, claims his rightful entitlement to the role, having been elected during a gathering at the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Simultaneously, Mr. Daniel Ogah Ogazi, representing Kokona East constituency, emerged triumphant from the proceedings held within the State Assembly complex.

Adding to the tension surrounding the issue, reports indicate that the police have sealed off the complex.
