Unknown gunmen have invaded the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Lokoja, Kogi state, and attacked medical officers in the facility, POLITICS NIGERIA has learned.
It was gathered that hoodlums arrived at the hospital in three vehicles and shot sporadically into the air to disperse those in the facility.
The hoodlums also disrupted a COVID-19 press conference scheduled to demand a COVID-19 screening centre in the state and to address the challenges health workers are facing in their fight against the disease.
This newspaper understands that health workers were said to have been harassed by the gunmen who took away laptops, vital documents, and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
Recall that governor Yahaya Bello had said on Tuesday that Nigerians are being made to accept the reality of COVID-19 “by force”.
He said the virus was created to “shorten the lifestyle of the people”, while asking residents not to accept what he described as “cut and paste COVID-19″.
