The House of Representatives has initiated deliberations regarding the N27.5 trillion budget for the year 2024, marking the commencement of discussions before its passage for the Second Reading.
Punch reports that during the debate on the budget’s fundamental principles, House Leader Julius Ihonvbere took the lead and commended President Bola Tinubu for the proposed allocations, especially emphasizing national security and education, which he believed would see significant enhancements if effectively implemented.
In his remarks, Ihonvbere expressed optimism about the increased allocation to defence and security, affirming that these provisions would bolster Nigeria’s overall security landscape.
“As a teacher, I am particularly impressed by the attention given to basic education. I am confident that with the emphasis placed on education in this budget, significant improvements will be made,” he remarked.
