Hundreds of protesters, mostly women from Nasarawa, have stormed the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja ahead of the judgement on the state governorship election.

According to a video shared on X (Twitter) by DailyTrust, the women were seen chanting songs in their native dialect.

The women, dressed in black attires and wielding placards, were also seen marching to the venue as judgement on the matter begins.

Politics Nigeria earlier reported that political bigwigs including Abdullahi Adamu, former national chairman of the APC; Umaru Al-Makura, former governor of Nasarawa; Labaran Maku, former minister of information and Mike Omeri, former director-general of National Orientation Agency, are present in court.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the March election but David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed for the tribunal.

According to INEC, Sule polled a total of 347,209 votes to defeat his closest opponent, who secured 283,016 votes.

In a split decision on October 2, the tribunal nullified Sule’s election and upheld Ombugadu as the winner.
