POLITICS NIGERIA has obtained a copy of a letter written by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to Tosin Ojaomo, the legal counsel of embattled former acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu over his application for bail.
It’s no longer news that Magu is being detained by FCID operatives following his arrest last week. Magu is being investigated by an inter-agency panel set up by the Presidency to look into allegations of fraud, corruption and misconduct.
The letter dated 14th of July, disclosed that the Police was not handling Magu’s case hence can’t grant bail. The letter read in part;
“Your letter OOC/TOL/89A/07/2020 of 10th July 2020 on the above-underlined subject refers.”
“The Inspector-General of Police directs that your attention be drawn to the fact that the Nigeria Police Force is not investigating CP Ibrahim Magu (your client], and he is accordingly, not being detained by the Police but by the Presidential Panel that is investigating the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).”
“The Inspector-General of Police, therefore, advises that you consider redirecting your request to the chairman of the Presidential Panel for appropriate attention.”
