BREAKING: Imo PDP gov’ship candidate denies stepping down

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has denied report making the rounds that he had stepped down from the keenly contested election.

Anyanwu made this known in a statement by the SamJones Governorship Campaign Council on Friday, November 10.

The statement signed by the director, new media of the SamJones Governorship Campaign Council, Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu, described the report as fake news and the handiwork of mischief makers.

The statement reads:

“The SamJones Governorship Campaign Council is compelled to address a malicious video circulating, falsely claiming that our esteemed candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, has withdrawn from the gubernatorial race.

“We emphatically state that this information is categorically FALSE. After a thorough examination of the video, it became evident that it was heavily edited with manipulated audio to mislead the public.

“We call on the general public to disregard the video,” it added.

Senator Anyanwu is one of the leading candidates in the race for the top job in Imo State.

He is up against incumbent Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP governorship candidate had promised to created about 23,000 jobs with his 100 days in office if elected.
