BREAKING: INEC adjourns Bayelsa governorship results collation to 12 pm Monday [VIDEO]

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned the collation of results of the Bayelsa state governorship election to 12 pm on Monday.

INEC said the action is because some elections that didn’t hold yesterday were held today, and its officials need time to collate the results.

The electoral body specifically said the re-elections were held in Southern Ijaw and Brass local governments.

”We have to give the Presiding Officers time to reconcile and put their figures together,” an INEC official announced at the state collation officer in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Recall that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and incumbent Governor, Senator Douye Diri, is leading after clinching five out of the six local government areas announced by INEC.

With the announcements of results of three more local government areas after the break, the PDP won two LGAs while the All Progressives Congress, APC, won one.

The PDP won in Sagbama and Ekeremor LGAs, while the APC won in Nembe LGA.

Recall that the PDP candidate had earlier won in Yenagoa, Kolokuma/Opokuma, and Ogbia LGAs.

The PDP has garnered 137909 votes so far while the APC is trailing with 73503 votes.
