The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is currently holding a crucial meeting with leaders of political parties in Edo State at the INEC state head office in Benin.
During the meeting, Prof. Yakubu praised the political parties for their conduct throughout the campaign period.
However, he voiced serious concerns over a recent attack on INEC staff by hoodlums during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
He also stressed the necessity of ensuring the safety and security of all electoral processes.
He called for peace among aggrieved parties and reaffirmed INEC’s unwavering commitment to upholding democracy.
Prof. Yakubu also urged political parties to mobilize citizens to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), lamenting the significant number of uncollected PVCs in the state.
