
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu is meeting with leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Commission’s national headquarters in Abuja.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the meeting is being held behind closed doors.
Leading the PDP delegation were acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum; Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State; Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State; and Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, among other senior party officials.
The visit comes ahead of the PDP’s anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which is expected to address lingering internal disputes and chart a course for the 2027 general elections.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who was also present at the meeting, confirmed the development via a post on social media.
“I’ve just arrived at the INEC HQ from the Bauchi State Lodge alongside fellow leaders of our great party for a preparatory meeting with the Commission ahead of our upcoming NEC meeting,” Saraki stated followed with a video of his arrival.
The delegation proceeded directly into a closed-door session with Professor Yakubu and INEC officials shortly after addressing journalists briefly.
