BREAKING: It’s Not Water That Is Flowing, But Blood – Wike Speaks on Peace Talks with Fubara

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has she’d light on the ongoing peace talks with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, insisting there is no personal crisis between them but stressing that the situation in Rivers State is far from ordinary.

Addressing journalists on Monday in Abuja, Wike dismissed claims that he supported a state of emergency in Rivers and blamed Fubara for allowing himself to be used by political enemies.

“I don’t have any crisis with him (Fubara). I’m not the President who declared a State of Emergency; if Mr President had called me, I wouldn’t have agreed to the State of Emergency,” he said.

“He knows when to lift, he has everything on his table, I don’t know. I have never supported it.”

However, he maintained that the state of emergency suggestion came at a time when Fubara was nearly impeached.
“But what I said was that the declaration of state of emergency was to save the governor because he was almost impeached,” Wike explained.

“I don’t have crisis; rather, the governor, unknown to me, gave himself to be the tool for those who couldn’t fight me to fight me,” he stated.

In response to probe on the reconciliation efforts initiated by President Tinubu, Wike said people should “know that it’s not water that is flowing here, it’s blood.”

According to him, “I only hear there’s ongoing peace process on radio and television but l have not seen Fubara again after Ogun and Ebonyi Governors brought him to my place in Abuja  and they said he wanted to make peace.”

The political tension in Rivers State led to Fubara’s suspension in March. The governor recently confirmed that reconciliation efforts are underway and also hinted at regaining full political footing soon.
