Professor Theophilus Soyombo, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, says he has resumed his new role.
Recall that the Governing Council of the university had appointed Soyombo as the new VC on Thursday after Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe was sacked at its emergency meeting in Abuja, on Wednesday.
But in an interview on Friday, Soyombo said he has assumed office immediately as his appointment on acting capacity takes immediate effect. He added that he will release a statement on the event that led to his emergence as the new VC.
However, it is unclear if the Professor of sociology has physically resumed at the 11th Floor, Senate Building office of the VC.
POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the Chairman of the Council, Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN, will hold a press briefing later in the day concerning the crisis rocking the institution.
