A former director of Finance and Account at the Abia Government House, Jones Ude Udeogu has been released from the correctional facility in Kuje, Abuja.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Udeogu was convicted alongside the former governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for money laundering and misappropriation of funds.
It was, however, gathered that the Supreme Court has issued a warrant of his release from Kuje prisons, while Kalu remains in prison without a warrant of release.
The Senator’s fate is still hanging in balance after the prison authorities said they have not received any warrant of release for the lawmaker.
In a statement to newsmen on Monday, Mr Austin Njoku, Spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service said that Kalu will be allowed to go when it receives the true copy of the judgement from the supreme court authorising Kalu’s release from its custody.
