The Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with security agencies, has secured the release of no fewer than 30 people from bandits in the state’s Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor explained that 24 abducted people were released on Friday, while another six were released on Saturday.
Confirming the release on Saturday, the Chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government, Usaini Aliyu Bena, described it as an enormous effort.
The Chairman appreciated the efforts of the government to work hand-in-hand with security agencies by giving them the necessary support to ensure that criminals are flushed out, especially in areas where Kebbi shares a border with Zamfara and Niger State.
According to him, some abducted people are from Kotangora in Niger State, some from Danmari, Kaba, and Kajiji in Zamfara State, and some are from Bena in Kebbi State.
He added that arrangements had also been made to take care of their medical examination to ensure they are in good and sound health.
