President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm the reappointment of Professor Mahmood Yakubu as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The President made this known in a letter sent to the red chamber and read on the floor during Tuesday plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
According to the letter, the President asked the lawmakers’ expeditiously consider his request for another five-year tenure for Yakubu.
Recall that the President had reappointed Professor Yakubu as INEC Chairman for another five-year term in office. He disclosed this on October 27, in a statement by his Spokesman, Femi Adesina.
