BREAKING: Kogi House of Assembly Deputy Speaker resigns

Rt Hon Enema Paul, the Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, tendered his resignation during a plenary sitting, citing deteriorating health as his departure from office.

In an emotional resignation letter on the House floor, Rt Hon Enema Paul expressed gratitude and admiration for Governor Yahaya Bello, highlighting the governor’s unwavering support and care during his tenure.

Acknowledging the love and prayers extended to him by Governor Bello and the 7th Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Enema Paul revealed that his health issues dated back to 2011.

Despite seeking medical attention abroad with the assistance and permission of Governor Bello, his health condition persisted, leaving him increasingly weaker each day. He mentioned the continued request from the overseas hospital for his return for ongoing treatment.

Consequently, seeking a year-long absence for medical care abroad, Rt Hon Enema Paul submitted his resignation, which the House accepted.

Following the resignation, the Clerk of the House, Mr Chogudo Sule Ahmed, called for nominations for the vacant Deputy Speaker position.

Hon Abu Jibrin of Ajaokuta state constituency nominated Hon Ojoma Comfort Nwuchiola from Ibaji state constituency for the position, seconded by Hon Seyi Bello representing Kabba/Bunu state constituency. Subsequently, the Clerk administered the oath of office to the newly nominated Deputy Speaker, Hon Ojoma Comfort Nwuchiola.
