The National Working Committee of the Labour Party has released the activities and nomination fees schedule for the February 3rd, 2024 Bye-Elections, following the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcement.
As stated by Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the National Secretary of the Labour Party, the purchase of Nomination, Expression of Interest, and Delegate Forms is slated to take place from December 28th, 2023, to January 4th, 2024.
The deadline for the submission of completed forms has been set for January 4th, 2024, while the Primary Elections are scheduled for January 7th, 2024.
The party has outlined the fees for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for various positions: Senate – N1.5m and N3.5m, respectively; House of Representatives – N1m and N2m; and House of Assembly – N1m and N500k.
Female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD) seeking Expression of Interest Forms will be exempt from payment.
In response to fraudulent attempts to deceive the public, the party disassociated itself from a fake timetable circulated by expelled former members aimed at defrauding unsuspecting individuals.
The Labour Party warned against these deceitful tactics and clarified that the provided forms can only be obtained from the National Headquarters in Abuja.
The party also addressed reported attacks on its leaders and aspirants in the Edo governorship polls by these expelled individuals, advising its aspirants to remain focused and ignore such disruptions.
”We assure our aspirants to disregard their nuisance value and focus on the project before them.
”We also warn these falling villains to seek for alternate platform to vend their trade as Nigerians are already aware of their shameful gimmick which has since expired,” the statement signed by Obiora Ifoh, national publicity secretary, read.
