BREAKING: Labour Party senatorial leader endorses PDP’s Asue Ighodalo ahead of Edo guber

The senatorial leadership of the Labour Party in Edo Central have publicly endorsed the candidacy of Barr. Asue Ighodalo ahead of the start of campaigns on the 21st of April 2024.

Barr. Ighodalo’s delegation, which included the former speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Itulah, was received at the Uromi country home of Chief Friday Ibadin, a retired commissioner of police and senatorial leader of the Labour Party.

Rising from a closed-door meeting, the combined leadership of the Party from the 5 local governments in the senatorial district declared they would be throwing their support behind Barr. Ighodalo because they believed he was the most competent candidate on the ballot.

Chief Ibadin reminded the assembly that he supported his friend Peter Obi not only because he was competent but also because he believed that for fairness, equity and justice, power should rotate to the South.

He added that in endorsing Barr. Ighodalo he was simply fighting for the same principles to be applied in Edo state.

The LP Senatorial Youth Leader, Mr. Osunbor Idemudia Emmanuel from Esan, south-east pledged to support Barr. Ighodalo but appealed to him to fix the roads in Edo Central if he wins the election.

Responding, Ighodalo stated that the cross-party endorsement from the Labour Party leaders humbled him.

“Once campaigns begin, I will come back to ask you to work with me to help me spread my message across the entire state.

”I believe that anybody who wants good for their people belongs to the same party I belong to; so I sincerely thank you for looking beyond party politics to adopt me.

”We all love our people and want the best for them; I am clear in my mind that finding and working with a critical mass of people who hold these same views is how we will not only build our state but even the nation”, Ighodalo said.

Chief Ibadin joins a growing list of high-profile Labour leaders and Obidients, including the Okphebholo family, Barr. Abdul Mahmoud, Prof. Chris Nwaokobia, and Hon. Lucky Obiyan have all publicly endorsed Ighodalo.
