BREAKING: Many Feared Dead as Gunmen Storm Imo Community

Gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) launched an early morning attack on communities in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, leading to the loss of lives.

The assailants reportedly stormed Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakuwata Uno, leaving seven people dead and several others injured.

The incident has been confirmed by the Imo State Police Command. A statement released on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry said the attackers carried out the operation in the early hours of the day, catching residents unawares.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma described the attack as “barbaric, inhumane, and unacceptable.” He assured the public that the command has launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and that no stone will be left unturned in bringing them to justice.

“The senseless assault, which claimed the lives of over seven persons and left several others critically injured, was described by the CP as barbaric, inhumane, and totally unacceptable,” the statement read.

The Police Command further disclosed that tactical and intelligence units have been deployed to the affected areas, while CP Danjuma personally led a special tactical team on an extensive combing operation across the communities.
